Friends

Well, I just finished switching the laundry for Jen, and I figured I would take a moment and recap the day.

A lot of today was spent visiting with some friends we rarely get to see. John & Jaime Towner and their son Aaron were over today for a waffle brunch and just some time catching up. It was a lot of fun (there were lots of kids to take care of) and Jaime brought some amazingly rich Chocolate Lime Cheesecake. Wow! :-)

After they left, we watched the first of two NFL games (the second is going on right now, so this post will be short!) and during the game, I made a call to some other friends we had not connected with in most of a year. They live near Jacksonville, FL, and through their friendship, we have become closet Jaguars fans. (Their whole family are HUGE Jags fans!) That, too was a great conversation about what God is doing in both of our lives. Nice to connect with people and hear the sorts of things God is doing.

During that call, we got another call from some other friends who are scheduled to come over for a late brunch tomorrow morning, saying that perhaps they might not come due to their daughter's tonsels being swollen! Sounds painful, but we are hoping to still get together with them tomorrow. They are going through a crazy, scary time with losing a job they have had for quite some time, and yet very peaceful and hopeful at what God is doing in all of this. Will be great to chat with them if we can tomorrow.

Friends are great. Sharing your hopes and your fears, learning from each other's... life is meant to be shared (or so says my book...) and we are blessed to be able to do that.

Speaking of sharing life, a verse from the Bible came to mind tonight...

A man's greatest treasure is his wife-- she is a gift from the LORD. (Proverbs 18:22)

I think that's true. Of all the great friends God has connected me with - she is the greatest. :-)
